Fulmers Biggest Game?

I know the game that a coach loses always turns out to be the "big game". This game versus Florida is perhaps Fulmers biggest game of his 16 year tenure. At no time has the fan base been this restless and his popularity has dipped to George W. Bush levels in public opinion polls around K-town!

Fulmer has responded well in times of adversity over the years and once again his back is against the proverbial wall. This team needs this game in the worst of ways and Fulmer probably needs it even more! A loss to the gators will drop Fulmer to 0-4 against Urban Meyer and further validate that the Tennessee program is in decline. However, a win over the gators may jump start this years team and at least for the time being get the fan base off of coach Fulmer and his much maligned staff.

One game does not make a season as we have been told numerous times by about every coaching staff in the country, but this game has huge ramifications for not only this year but for the future of Tennessee football and coach Phillip Fulmer. This truly is a " big game"!

The traditional statement by coaches throughout the eons is "Men! This game coming up will be the biggest game of your lives." Of course every game is a big game but is the Florida game even bigger? Haven't we been here before? Asking this same ole question or making these same "big game" statements? The question needs to be "how long do you want Tennessee to be a second tier team in the SEC?"

We may be asking the wrong questions or making the wrong statements. So what is another "big game"? What makes these "big games" is because our asses are against the second tier wall once again. Maybe some other questions need to be asked. Why are we getting our butts kicked in recruiting? Why can't we recruit any stud defensive lineman? Why does our play calling look the same it has for 15 years? Why do we continue to play this bend but don't break defense that always breaks? Why did we announce 98,000 fans on Saturday when there were really about 80,000 fans there?

Yes! This is a "big game". I hope we play good and I hope we win. On the other hand, lets make sure we keep our pulse on why this program is where it is at.
